Last night Google has stopped censorship on its chinese version of  Google.cn and direct all further queries to the search page in Hong Kong, where search results are not censored.  Google has been in intense negotiations with China recently, after the earlier years had unwanted visits to their servers, the people Google has found sitting in China.

From the outset, it was announced that Google would stop censoring search results on their Chinese side, which the Chinese authorities did not like, just as they rejected any involvement in the attack against Google.

By forwarding people to the website of Hong Kong Google hopes that China will see it as an acceptable solution, but is well aware of the danger since being filtered away.

With around 400 million Internet users in China, it is a potentially large market Google search turns its back. In other areas remain Google in China, including with their short-and music service, like nothing is happening with their Chinese Engineering.

Purely economically it is not expected to cost Google much, since China accounts for only a tiny fraction of Google’s revenue.
