So the war for internet browsers is on and there is muc more evident from Google decision to closes more and more of their services for older browsers, including internet explorer 6. Obviously internet explorer  has its merits, since recent data from Net Applications can show that IE6, 9 years after it went on the market now is no longer the most used browser in the world; older brother as IE8 has finally taken over the lead.

The difference is not great because IE8 has 22.31% market share, against 20.07 with IE6. Next comes Firefox 3.5 with 17.10%, 14.58% for internetexplorer 7, 5.29% for Firefox 3.0 and finally 3.92 for Chrome 3.0. The remaining 16.17% belongs to browsers as Opera and Safari.

Various statistics do provide different results, so that Internet Explorer’s numbers in other statistics is fully depressed, while Firefox’s is top notch. This is just one of the companies that regularly runs statistics on the browser market.
