4. Although, women are the growing demographic, men are 10 percent more likely to recall the brand that was advertised. What is more significant is that the 25-34 age-group performed the highest. Marketers have tried to reach this demographic using the social networking world with little success.

5. This is a significant statistic as the 25-34 year-old demographic has been notably difficult to reach for marketers. If mobile subscribers are able to recall seeing advertisements, it is also critical that they remember the brand.

Ringtones Still Big Business For Consolidated D2C Industry

Filed Under (News) by ozman on 31-07-2008

Tagged Under : , , , ,

Moconews reports that Ringtones are often dismissed as last year’s technology, but they’re still one of (if not the) most lucrative forms of mobile content. That’s borne out by recent news from Jamba that it will spend $100 million on advertising this year, according to Mobile Entertainment, which does a good job at checking up on the industry. Although declining as a proportion of Jamba’s sales ringtone sales are still increasing in absolute terms, and realtone comprise 40 percent of an average month’s downloads on Jamster. There was a serious shake-out in the direct-to-consumer industry, but it resulted in consolidation of the industry rather than the end of it. A lot of that is because of strong growth in developing markets, but top D2C players have other things to offer. “Javier Perez Dolset, CEO of Zed, says: “In five years between 40 and 50 per cent of people will access the net from a mobile device. So companies like Zed will have an advantage. Remember, we have agreements with more than 130 operators and we know how to make portals or apps work across hundreds of devices.” Buongiorno (BIT: BNG) is looking at using content as a reward for topping up prepaid cards with the idea that it reduces churn.

Cuil is no way better than google

Filed Under (News) by ozman on 29-07-2008

Tagged Under : , , ,

I have been reading the posts on cuill which claims to index three times as large as Google’s - searching for results across 120 billion web pages compared with Google’s index of 40 billion pages but i find it ordinary , i have just done few test on for both search engines and i can say cuill needs lot of improvement in terms of UI and relevancy.

I agree with richrad that Having ex-Googlers at the helm and making big claims is nothing new. They were also coming out of stealth mode, which helped the PR. But perhaps what made the difference this time was that some key industry pundits made some big claims themselves about Cuil.

Danny Sullivan, who runs SearchEngineLand and is generally considered to be the most respected search blogger around, is quoted in the NYT as saying: “This is the most promising thing I’ve seen in a while”. He did qualify that by saying: “Whether they are going to threaten Microsoft, much less Google, that’s another story.” And his own post on SEL goes deep into this very question - well worth reading.

Car chargers and the industry trends

Filed Under (News) by ozman on 24-07-2008

Tagged Under : ,

Few months back i read some where  that Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP)–a forum for  operators which includes leading phone manufacturers –announced that its members had agreed on micro-USB as the future common connector. Micro-USB, which is thinner than the currently ubiquitous mini-USB standard and therefore better suited to the ever-shrinking dimensions of mobile phones and other consumer electronics, was introduced to the world by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) at the start of this year. Like mini-USB, the standard also makes it possible to charge phones from PCs. This really is  a good news to have one common standard for all chargers so that you dont have to buy a differnet charger for a different device.

These charging devices and the chargers are known as FMCG on mobiles industry. Recently most of the manufacturer have  changes in their charging pins and this have invited even more kinds of products in the industry. From cell phone chargers to travel chargers all these chargers are consumed more and more due to their  difference in usage.

These days most of our portable devices can be charged by either plugging into the wall or plugging into your computer via a USB cable. Sure you can buy a separate car charger to power each device through your cigarette lighter, but they’re not cheap and you need a different one for each device.  So if you are really looking for a car charger  i would suggest you  to be sure that they are safe as i have heard
