Samsung i8510 is a dual-band UMTS (850/1900MHz) with HSDPA. The Samsung i8510 is a slider, packing an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash. It also sports WiFi, a built-in GPS receiver, microSD card slot, and S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2, for the full package.
Samsung INNOV8 really needs to makes the cut. In fact, it’s so hardcore — arguably the most powerful S60 phone ever released — that it seemed like a forgone conclusion from day one that we wouldn’t be seeing it in North America (yeah, we’re jaded like that). Samsung might have other ideas, though, now that we’ve seen a version of the INNOV8 garner FCC approval with WCDMA (presumably 7.2Mbps HSDPA, to be specific) on the 850 and 1900MHz bands. Given that Samsung’s mobile division doesn’t really have a direct relationship with end users in the States, we’d expect this to be a branded set for either Rogers or AT&T — but at any rate, whichever carrier it happens to be, we salute your infinite wisdom.

What better way to usher in Christmas than stoking everyone’s anticipation and excitement with your latest product? Sony has put up a new teaser of its VAIO New Mobile on the Japanese website, featuring a computer with the width of a netbook being wrapped while possessing a shallower design that could fool some into thinking this is the PCG-1P which has already made a visit to the FCC in the US. What we do know about this mystery device is, it will feature both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity along optional 3G Internet access. It seems as though Sony will be rolling out this new VAIO at CES, as the Japanese consumer electronics giant has yet to join the netbook fray.

The team working on the mobile version of Firefox has been primarily focused on developing the browser for Linux and Windows Mobile devices so far. But around 50% of all the Smartphones in the world actually run the Symbian mobile operating system. So it should come as no surprise that Mozilla is also working on a version for Symbian phones.
The plan is to have a working browser by the end of April, 2009 although there’s no official release date for a beta version just yet. Of course, since the browser an open source project, I wouldn’t be surprised if Symbian users were able to download and test early builds as soon as February when the roadmap predicts “basic/limited browsing” fucntionality
